Jo from Little Women could be a good choice... headstrong, independent and loves books. Or maybe Scarlet from Gone with the Wind because of her tenacity and flirty personality. Jane Eyre, Amelia Peabody, Bridget Jones, Kay Scarpetta... the list of potential candidates goes on and on.
For me, I would pick...
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. She has spunk, makes friends everywhere she goes, gets into her fair share of trouble, has a temper, and believes in the goodness of people.
