The Gargoyle
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
This book pulled me in from the very beginning with the car wreck. I really liked the rawness of it, that the narrator is so broken, the theme of redemption, all the ambiguities of whether Marianne Engle is crazy or not. Could she really have lived in the 1300s? I loved how the story weaved in with Dante's Inferno. Also, I feel like I have a whole new respect for burn victims. I had no idea how absolutely dreadful the recovery process can be.
Though I thought the story dragged at times, it was overall an entertaining book. My test of a good book is whether or not I think about it afterward. I do still think about it. It is a really interesting story.
