My little girl is 2 today.
She is sweet, independent, kind, shy, feisty, and has a giggle that is addictive and highly contagious. At first she is reserved and silently takes it all in. Like she is making her mind up about you. But once she has made up her mind, she makes up for lost time and plays/loves/chatters/kisses/hugs intensely. She loves to dance and sing and build forts. I love that while she may be one of the smallest kids on the playground, she can hold her ground with a look that will stop a pushy kid in his tracks. When she climbs up on her chair in the kitchen, grabs a spatula, and quietly says "Help mama cook?" while arching her eyebrows up for emphasis, it is impossible to resist.
She is my girl and I am in awe of her. She makes me feel proud, important, humble, in love and lucky to be her mama.
Today, we will celebrate my girl by doing all the things she loves to do. Making homemade cupcakes together. Licking the batter off the spatula. Eating way too much icing. A good hearty bubble-making session in the back yard with two of her little friends. Bubble wands for everyone! And in the evening we will wrap it all up with a fierce dance party in the living room and lots of snuggles on the couch with both her daddy and mama.
The weather has decided to smile upon my sweet girl by delivering a "cool" front that will bring the temps down into the 80s. Woohoo!
Yes, today will be perfect. A celebration of the day that my girl came into this world. A celebration of the day that gave my life such purpose and joy. Today will be a great day, indeed.
Little B, you are so loved. Happy birthday, my sweet girl.
