It has recently been very Craftastic over here in the Duarte household. David and I are in a quite groove with our DIY projects.
I have been making a whole bunch of this...
My latest creations have included strawberry vanilla jam and blackberry jam. Let me tell ya, de-seeding those blackberries is quite an arm workout. I think the strawberry vanilla one might be my new favorite. And Jessica... yes, you already have a blackberry jam set aside with your name on it.
David finally finished Little B's mini Adirondack chair to match mama's. It just needed one last coat of paint.
I am so amazed by him. That he can salvage leftover pieces of wood that are destined to go to the dump and turn them into something as cool as a chair.
I think it turned out so well that I think he should sell them on Etsy. What do you think? Anyone wanting a mini Adirondack chair for their little one?
I have also been tapping into some craftastic energy to make hair bows.
Hair bows? Yep, you heard me right. With all of Little B's friends that have birthdays coming up and then a slew of friends/family that are due to have baby girls this summer, the gift-buying was getting expensive. And while I love to support all the Etsy sellers out there, I was thinking "Hey, how hard can it be? I can make this stuff."
So I combed Pinterest and other blogs for tutorials on how to make some stinkin' cute hair bows. I guess technically, I should call them hair flowers. And after a few late-night cutting and hot-gluing sessions channeling some Martha Stewart ju-ju, I think these turned out pretty well for a rookie attempt.
All this productivity brings me such joy. I like that feeling of crossing stuff off the to-do list. And of course, having some pretty cool things to show for it. Taking scraps of this and that to create something that is utterly wonderful in its final form. Ahh, the beauty of craftastic.
These productive bursts of energy also make me feel a lot less guilty when we trade them in for lazy weekends doing a whole bunch of nothing. Ebb and flow, baby. Ebb and flow.
