Seattle is one of those places that David and I put on the list of "other places that we could live". It seems to have a similar vibe as Austin in that the people are diverse, there is a love of outdoors, and the city can be a little quirky. The climate is very different, but that is not such bad thing when dealing with a hot Texas summer.
The last time I was in Seattle, it was November and I went to visit my friend, Sara. Sara and I have known each other since high school when I plopped down next to her in Spanish AP class and realized that we were the only two fair girls in the room. We both had that innocent look, but also had a mischievous personality that got us into quite a bit of trouble. We became instant friends and have been close ever since.
The trip to see her was awesome. The whole time the weather was misty and overcast... and I could not be happier. The rain did not stop us. We grabbed our hoodies and checked out all that this great city had to offer. We hiked and kicked up leaves that were as big as my face. We visited Pike's Place to see the fish be thrown and check out all the cool little shops. We enjoyed a long, wonderful evening of dinner and wine at an amazing seafood place right on the water. Nothing better than great conversation watching the boats go by as the sun sets in the background. And of course we drank our weight in coffee at a number of the local coffee shops.
I was sad when it was time to leave Seattle. The trip was great. And whether it was great because of our adventures, the stunning scenery, or that I was with one of my best friends, or maybe the coffee was just that amazing, it does not matter. I found a kindred spirit in a city that weekend.
